Chris Roddy Muhango, FCIM

BRIEF INTRODUCTION 

Chris R. Muhango is a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK. He is a Ugandan senior marketing and communication specialist with rich consulting experience (over 20 years) in the private, public and development sectors. He has worked and lived in Kenya and Tanzania, and travelled on work related assignments to most countries in the East, Central and Southern Africa region and other parts of the world. He is the founder of TIG Marketing Consult and TIG Institute. He has lectured at Makerere University, Kampala, Makerere University Business School and Uganda Management Institute. He has written various offline and online articles mostly focusing on marketing Uganda.

CONTRIBUTION TO UGANDA’S TOURISM AND RELATED SECTORS

2019: Initiated Market Uganda Program
The objective of the program is to mobilize Ugandans and friends of Uganda to participate in marketing Uganda.

2018: Uganda Customer Service Improvement Program/Campaign
He developed the Uganda Customer Service Improvement Program/Campaign under TIG Marketing Consult. The campaign focuses on mobilizing Ugandans to promote a culture of good customer service and use it as a strategy to promote Uganda.

2016: Investment Promotion Directory Consultant, TIG Marketing Consult
Chris Muhango was the team leader on this assignment. With guidance from Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), TIG Marketing Consult published the Uganda Investment Promotion Directory as a marketing tool for promoting investment opportunities in Uganda.

2016: Rwenzori Gateway Business and Marketing Plan Consultant, ECOTRUST
ECOTRUST is a non-profit environmental conservation organization with the goal of providing long-term sustained funding for the conservation of biodiversity and environmental management in Uganda. He was the team leader on this business planning assignment.

2013: Proposal Consultant, USAID/ Uganda Tourism for Biodiversity Program
He developed a proposal to improve tourism connectivity, between Kampala, Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP) and Kidepo Valley (KVNP).

2011: Development of a comprehensive grant application proposal for Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) - submitted to the Private Sector Foundation- Enterprise Skills Linkage program (PSF-ESL)
He developed a main proposal, which contained individual proposals for member associations of UTA. 

2011: National Consultant – Investment Promotion, Uganda Investment Authority (UIA)
He was contracted by UNIDO to assist Uganda Investment Authority prepare marketing materials for promoting investments in Uganda. He developed over fifty coherent, fit for purpose marketing materials to create awareness among various stakeholders.

2011: Lead Consultant for Lweza Conference Centre Business Planning – Church of Uganda
His task was to review previous marketing strategy and develop a new one for Lweza Conference Centre.

2009: Lead Consultant, Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) -Development of Seven Wonders tourism promotion concept; funded by Private Sector Foundation of Uganda
He was the lead consultant on the team that developed the Seven Wonders of Uganda concept - to promote Uganda’s tourism attractions and opportunities.

2009: Development of Business Plan for Kaniyo-Pabidi Ecotourism site
He was the lead consultant for Great Lakes Safaris on the preparation of a business and management plan for re-developing and managing Kaniyo-Pabidi Ecotourism site in Budongo Forest, Masindi.

2009: Development of Tourism Sector Investment Profiles for Uganda Investment Authority
He was part of the team that developed investment profiles for various tourism sub-sectors i.e. establishment of White Sand Resort Beaches; Construction of Wild life/Forest Lodges; Domestic Air Transport; and Establishment of Tourism & Hospitality Training Institutes.

2009: Developed a Business Plan for Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), 2009
He was the lead consultant who developed the AUTO Strategic Business Plan, 2009. The association brings together tour operators in Uganda.

2004: Strategic Business Plan Consultant, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
He was the lead consultant on the World Bank funded consultancy assignment for developing Uganda Wildlife Authority Strategic Business Plan 2005-2010. The assignment also included developing a marketing and communication strategy for Uganda Wildlife Authority to increase tourist flow and retention in the protected areas.

2003:   Paper Presentation on “Tourism Marketing and Promotion” under Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Kampala.
He presented a researched paper on “Tourism Marketing and Certification- Necessity for Tourism Promotion” during Civil Aviation Authority workshop focusing on Tourism.
